This building was the headquarters of the utility office. It closed in the early 1950s. And has been vacant ever since. We drive by this building a lot. I have been wanting the shoot it for years. So Sunday, we drove down to the fence. G went to try to talk the security guard into letting us behind the fence - and I shot photos.
Turns out the gas company will not allow anyone on the grounds. Why? Because it has been over 50 years since the building was closed. It's too dangerous. They won't even let film crews near it. The last security guard, it turns out, was fired for letting people on the grounds. I shot photos - only to find out later that I was not supposed to be doing it. As the security guard said - he's busy talking to my husband - so he couldn't stop me. I liked that guy.
Then we went out to Trojan Park - the site of the former nuclear power plant. The girls were hoping one of them would get bit by something radiation filled. Why? Because they could become a super hero or super villan.
And I found a bald eagle.
I always miss them. So I was happy to see one. I stopped in the middle of the road and shot this photo. Until a car came up behind me. Damn car.
We watched as a Toyota ship was coming down the Columbia River. G didn't think it would make the bridge. But it did.
I love reflections.
